Now you have discovered him, the dog we are occupied with and keeps our family busy and of whom Jack London in his book "Jerry, the islander" speaks with overwhelming love as:

"A dog made of gold, through and through"

Being our favourite right from the beginning and our permanent companion all over the years the Irish Terrier has become an essential part of our life. With much engagement and interest regarding this really loveable breed we have always followed our aim in breeding to create self-confident and sound dogs who are happy with their owners and those with them, too.

He is Guard in Breeding, too, and in addition an Funktionary in different areas in the "Klub fuer Terrier e.V."

The first litter in the kennel "von der Emsmuehle" fell on July 14th, 1977. Out of this litter originated "Aphrodite von der Emsmuehle", a bitch winning many titles as Champion and the titles as German Winner and Winner Europe for us in the years to come. She became the ancestress of our kennel and up to this day you will find her name in the pedigrees of our kennel.

Having a small stock of self-bred dogs and later on also imported ones, though small in number but of excellent quality, it had always been our intention to preserve the soundness, elegance and wonderful character of this breed. Our principle in breeding is to use line breeding consequentially together with selective choice (control of progeny). Only by this it has been possible to breed sound and assertive dogs above all and all over the years. Apart from this, the usage of the best British and Irish bloodlines guaranteed an extraordinary typeful progeny.

And the success ascertained us doing the right!

Up to this very day our dogs have been shown and will be shown on the most important exhibitions of Europe, and they have been and will be extremely successful. Following the principles "For breeding the best will just be good enough" and "Good breeding is not mere chance" our dogs have won the following titles more than once:

World Winner, Winner Europe (VDH), Winner Europe (FCI), German Winner, Austrian Winner, German Club Winner, Austrian Club Winner, Danish Club Winner, Belgian Winner, Winner Luxembourg, Winner Copenhagen, Winner Amsterdam, Interra Winner
as well as
International Champion, German Champion, Luxembourg Champion, Champion Netherlands, Belgian Champion, Swedish Champion, Danish Champion, Polish Champion, Slovenian Champion, Spain Champion, Hungarian Champion..

All of them made the kennel "von der Emsmuehle" the most successful kennel on the Continent. Our dogs often won BEST TERRIER and many times BEST IN SHOW!

Quality instead of quantity as well as energetic assistance of all of the owners of our dogs made these successes possible. At this place and time we do want to thank all the owners for their co-operation. A very special thank you goes to DAVID DALTON, whom we are acquainted to in friendship, for his professional photo documentation of our dogs. The pictures of them went around the world due to his engagement and artistic skill.

This all is a given occasion to review on more than 30 years of living together with Irish Terriers in our family. We do want to inform on a - in our opinion - wonderful breed and to induce interested people to become competent lovers of this breed. We would like to urge the breeders among you: Bestow all the respect the Irish Terrier he deserves. Please take your share in breeding this wonderful dog and not only multiply him thoughtlessly that one day you may meet a dog becoming the dog of your life.

To us "Ch.Maghill of Ben's Heir" was a wonderful dog and extraordinary hereditor. He did contribute to ameliorating the level of our breed - not only that of our kennel but also that of the breed of Irish Terriers collectively. He bestowed on us the force and the motivation for an untiring engagement in the prosperity of this breed.

"Once in a breeders lifetime there comes one dog, and to this dog he will say Mr. Dog." - Joe Braddon
